About Deirdre

Deirdre Beglan, MS, CCC-SLP, COM® (Speech-Language Pathologist, Certified Orofacial Myologist®) is the founder of NYC Speech-Language Pathologist, P.C.

She is licensed in NY State, a Certified Orofacial Myofunctional® therapist, ASHA (American Speech and Hearing Association) certified, and holds a TSSLD (Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities) license.

Deirdre has had the opportunity to work internationally in Australia for a couple of years and did voluntary work in Africa, India, Thailand, Philippines, Laos, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, etc…while traveling for a year. With at least 22 years of experience and a passion to learn more and to perfect her therapy techniques.

Deirdre is a Certified Orofacial Myofunctional® therapist, is a TBI ambassador with The Breathe Institute (Dr. Zaghi), trained in PROMPT (level 2), the Lidcombe Program for stuttering, ABA therapist, ARFID trained, completed the Lactation Counselor Training course in 02/2022, Foundations in Manual Therapy:  Voice and Swallowing Disorders,  Feeding Therapy, amongst many more classes, certifications/degrees, and awards.

Deirdre completes a minimum of 75 hours of continuing education each year and is awarded the ACE (Award for Continuing Education) from ASHA each year.

Throughout the years, she has worked with a wide variety of children with disabilities from birth to adults of all ages. She has worked in her current private practice for 8 years with a speciality in, but not limited to, Orofacial Myofunctional therapy.  She works with babies who have feeding difficulties, oral motor issues, low tone, and tongue tie.  She works with children and adults of all ages with speech and language issues often as a result of an Orofacial Myofunctional Disorder that was never diagnosed.  She works with a team of ENTs, Orthodontists, Orthotropic specialists, Sleep specialists, Dentists, Craniosacral therapists, Physical therapists, and Pulmonologists.

Deirdre has success with children and adults because she understands the boundaries between discipline and fun. She has a unique way with people and is able to “tap” into each person in a different way and immediately establish rapport with them. She treats all of her clients as a part of her own family and believes that family involvement is a necessary ingredient for the best results.

Deirdre enjoys yoga, meditation, traveling, cycling, fine dining, family, and friends.

About Kayla

Kayla Giordano, M.A., CCC-SLP is a Speech-Language Pathologist at NYC Speech and Language Pathologist, P.C.

Kayla graduated from Marymount Manhattan College with her B.A. in Speech-Language Pathology. She later attended Iona College for her Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Kayla then completed her external graduate studies and clinical fellowship year with Deirdre.

Kayla has had the opportunity to experience working with a wide variety of clients with disabilities ranging from pediatric to geriatric both in-person and virtually. Kayla’s experience extends to working with children and adults in all areas of speech-language pathology including receptive/expressive and pragmatic language development, articulation/phonological processing, oral motor, feeding, and fluency. Kayla is also level 1 PROMPT trained.

Kayla has found that treating clients in a private practice setting helps promote optimal client-centered care. Her favorite things about being an SLP are continuous learning, creativity, educating clients and families, teamwork and most importantly witnessing a client’s continued progression! Kayla loves hiking, traveling, listening to music, and spending time with her fur babies in her free time.

About Marguerite

Marguerite Lambert-Fariello is a Speech-Language Pathologist at NYC Speech and Language Pathologist, P.C.

Marguerite Fariello graduated with honors with her B.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of South Dakota. After completing her undergraduate coursework, she moved to New York to complete her Master’s Degree at Iona College where she continued studying Communication Sciences and Disorders.
Marguerite has experience working with clients of all ages with a variety of communication disorders including receptive/expressive language, social communication, literacy, fluency, articulation/phonological processing, and oral motor both in person and virtually. During her clinical rotations in graduate school, she gained experience working with students at North Salem Middle/High School, as well as with clients ages one-75 at My Speech Matters. After graduation, Marguerite briefly worked with elementary students at Rosalyn Yalow Charter School before joining the speech and language department at Mount Vernon City School District where she continues to work with high school students. She was also part of the speech team at Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES during the 2021 and 2022 Extended School Year Programs.
Marguerite is excited to return to a fast-paced private practice environment. She joined the field of speech-language pathology because of the opportunities for continuing education, creativity, and the opportunity to build rapport with clients and families as they progress toward their goals. In her free time, Marguerite enjoys weightlifting, baking, and listening to music.

About Rita

Rita Kennedy is the patient care coordinator/office manager at NYC Speech-Language Pathologist, P.C.

Rita started working at NYC Speech-Language Pathologist, P.C about 8 years ago.  She enjoys communicating with patients, family members, and healthcare organizations.  She answers the phone, answers your questions, and helps with scheduling visits.  She creates a pleasant experience while you are in the office as she meets and greets you.  Rita loves multi-tasking.
In her spare time, Rita enjoys gardening, cooking, and family outings.
